Is there a patron saint for us poor, anxious potential grad students? Mayara and Otter-boy, any direct links to the divinity of admissions?

Finally, after much gnashing of teeth, absurd vocabulary study and near-sleepless nights, both parts of my application are off and away. Now it's sitting back, waiting and trying not to check the status of my application on-line every two minutes. I think from previous entries you all know just how much getting in at Minnesota means to me, how long overdue I am in beginning the next chapter of my life. And so, I hope in a few eeeks time there will be a gleefully exuberant post about getting in, getting funding, and beginning the search for the perfect parka and pair of galoshes.

I've got my fingers crossed for you.

As for back when I was going through that particular part of the process, I do remember plenty of "what if I don't get in" and other similar negative thoughts; just remember, thinking them doesn't change what's going to happen and just makes you feel bad. Find some way to distract yourself in the meantime - it'll do you good.

The negative thoughts are a bugger, and sometimes hard to shake, but I think I've gotten through the worst - aka my extraordinary listlessness in the light of important tasks. Not like I've ever had to deal with *that* before..

But here's hoping to some visits to Minnesota (and lefsedillas!) next year!

I've had more than enough of that after getting in...

What little pull I have with any powers above I'll put to ample use, my friend.

They'd be extraordinarily silly and stupid not to take you.

*snugs* Thank you, my friend, for all the faith you have in me.

I think the official prayer of the graduate student is, "Dear Goddess, please get me in. And once you're done with that, please get me out."

We're all wishing great big happy wishings for you, and Mayara's right: never spend time worrying about the immutable. I'm sure your chances are excellent!

Hah! I'll certainly hope for reverse grad school karma for you and Mayara - seems like a fair exchange!

Though not terribly original, I'd like to wish you good luck! If that chapter in your life is overdue, it oughta happen!

As I'm feeling terribly un-original as well, I'll just offer my best wishes and good luck to you too. :D

Not that you need it. I have every confidence you'll get in.
