Already a day into my blog and I'm off topic! But this thought has been plaguing me for some time so you, the poor readers of my blog (if any) are subjected to my rant - unless you simply close the Web page!
Looking through the morass that is Fanfiction.net (the proverbial needle in the haystack), it amazes me how mnay of the stories have absolutely nothing to do with CCS character names and the basic relationship structures - well, SxS and ExT, anyhow. I have a feeling Touya and Yukito are nowhere to be seen, which is a curse but mostly a blessing. Curiously, the first CCS stories on FF.net stay within the canon - and then Sakura and Syaoran begin street racing. Or reenacting every Freddie Prinze Jr. movie. Or heading over to England and falling in love with Harry Potter and defeating Voldemort.
Then again, CLAMP does the exact same thing - Tsubasa Resevoir Chronicles, most notably - but they do it with a little more panache. And some extremely well-done CCS crossovers have been done, especially the TB/X crossovers - personally, I cannot wait for the next chapter of 'The Bet' by draconis-sama and 'Freeze My Love' by joudama. Providing I can get through these stories I'm working on, I'd love to try my hand at a CCS/Evangelion crossover. And I think if they put their talented pens (or keyboards) to it, I think some of the established CCs writers could do a CCS/HP crossover that didn't leave people running from their screens - especially if Yue and a certain dark-haired Potions professor were to...
..ahem. Pardon my Alan Rickman moment-of-yumminess(tm). But it's not that CCS crossovers are inherently bad, it's just that there are so many bad ones out there - and when you have to wade through them to find the fics of merit on FF.net, it makes a person cranky.
