Today was my neurologist visit, so that meant trekking downtown. Yay! Not working downtown means I appreciate it that much more when I do get up there - real buildings and little coffeeshops and did I mention the real buildings? That and after a friend from out of town noted I almost never looked up while we were walking around downtown, I try to be more mindful.

Sadly, the craptastic traffic on I-25 North was very craptastic, so my plans of stopping by Glazed and Confused, a kick-ass new donut store on Broadway, were thwarted. I did get to catch a taxi outside the Brown Palace to make it to my appointment on time, and I admit, I like taking a taxi downtown. Just something fun about it.

The neurology visit was pretty much what I thought it would be - being poked with pins, being made to hop around and a lot of talking. I did find out, however, my primary care doctor didn't exactly mention the arthritis panel I had last week came back with some low positive values - which doesn't necessarily mean arthritis or an autoimmune disease, but it's the first non-normal result I've had. Maybe they felt it wasn't worth mentioning but I would have liked to know. So my neuro had them draw the test again, to see if they still get a similar result. He's also ordered a crapload of other tests - a cervical MRI and some others - though I imagine it's mostly to rule out things.

But the past five days have gone really well, overall. Managed to go downtown to festivals both days this past weekend and my legs haven't once had the horrible pain they did Friday. Some weird arm pain, but at least it's mostly fleeting. So I'm just knocking on wood in the meantime.

And in that meantime I'm reading - about a third of a way through Tales from Watership Down and I've just started on The Name of the Rose. Some Brother Cadfael books are on deck, and Time Stops for No Mouse, a children's book that comes highly recommended.

Mmm, donuts. What do you prefer, cake or raised? What's your favorite?

Mmmm, donuts. It really depends on my mood - my 'staple' donuts tend to be glazed with chocolate icing, raspberry filled, and strangely enough, plain cake. We have a Lamar's by our house and I really like their donuts. Glazed and Confuzed does some really neat flavors - they did an absolutely yummy egnog donut during the holidays.

What about you?

We need a plain cake appreciation society! Sometimes, nothing else will do.
