artyartieThis is my sci-fi fandom love post for Dr. Who's "School Reunion" and the first two episodes of Torchwood. Spoilers below the cuts.
So much freaking love. First, ASH was creepy as hell in this episode. Just - wow. Uber, uber creepy Giles! Secondly, David Tennant is just stellar in this episode. His interaction with Sarah Jane, which made me tear up, despite having seen little Four, and his joy at seeing K-9 again, was incredible - and I think DT's own Who fannishness is a huge strength when it came to this episode. When he saw his old companions, you just felt his emotions. And his talk with ASH about the man he used to be - haunting and chilling and so very sad.
Hurrah for Mickey at not being the tin dog - even if the tin dog is adorable in every way. Rose - I admit, I haven't seen much of Nine yet (this will soon change) but I'm not too big a shipper when it comes to the Doctor - though I liked Girl in the Fireplace very much.
Torchwood!! I just watched the first episodes today and whee, so, so much fun. First, I love the Caerdydd setting and all the lovely Welsh accents and Gwen. She's a normal girl thrown into the insane and crazy world of Torchwood and Jack and she's handling it pretty well. And Jack? Yummmmmmmmmmmm. Have not seen his episodes with Nine but I can't wait. He has so much snark and sex and angst and I love it. The Torchwood staff has real potential - well, all but the dead one. But when it came to the book transfer device, wouldn't it have been cooler if it uploaded the info to your head? I could so use that in grad school. With citations, of course.
The crossover potential is amazing - I want to see some deliciously fun crossovers with Torchwood, the rift, and two hitchhikers on a couch. :) Can't you just picture Jack and Ford?
