1 - List your top 10 celebrity crushes
2 - Put all of them IN ORDER of your lust for them
3 - Say which movie/show it was that hooked you
4 - Supply photos for said stars
5 - Tag five people

...is a shameless excuse to list my personal 'hits' for the estimable ladies of the Anglophilic Fangirl Global Mafia. We need icons! One day, tee-shirts! And maybe, possibly, squeeeeful encounters with our objects of lustadmiration. But until then, here is some beautiful picspam for you all.

[EDIT] Click on the pics to get a larger version and a link to the AFGM gallery, with even more pictures - swoon!

Number one:

Ioan Gruffudd. Da Iawn, Da Iawn, Da Iawn. I first saw him in Fantastic Four of all things, and was instantly smitten. Then I realized he was in Hornblower and it was all downhill from there. Heaven forbid, I left 102 Dalmatians on to catch his very silly role (and also took Welsh language classes for a few months....) So very Welsh, and so very beautiful. Many pictures of him in the gallery.

Number two:

We should really be the Britophilic Fangirl Global Mafia. The sexily bespectacled David Tennant is a Scot, which makes me want to hunt down a picture of him in a kilt. And glasses. Currently starring as the Tenth Doctor, where I first appreciated his geeky sex appeal.

Number three:

Mr. Darcy! Tom Quinn! Whoever he is, Matthew MacFayden is wibble-inducing. First saw him in the new Pride and Prejudice and soon started watching Spooks, where he played the part of an MI-5 agent with an incredible intensity. He and Ioan strred in a British series about peacekeeping forces together - I would give almost anything to get a copy on DVD.

Number four:

I think I first saw Clive Owen in Closer. Yowza! The man has such a smoldering intensity, he just radiates sex with a single glance. Martha Grimes thinks he would be a perfect Richard Jury, and I thoroughly agree.

Number five:

If The Clive is Richard, then Alan Rickman is my Melrose, amid many other things. I don't know when I first started lusting after him and his golden voice, but it doesn't matter. He's often described as the thinking woman's sex symbol, and I think the description is perfect.

Number six:

If Alan Rickman is the thinking woman's sex symbol, that must put Anthony Steward Head in the MENSA range. While everyone else was lusting after Angel and Spike, I was daydreaming about card-catalouging. Among other things.

Number seven:

Ewan MacGreggor was the only constant and good thing to the Star Wars prequels. I was smitten with his Obi-Wan, especially when he was all scruffy in the third film and channeling Alec Guiness. Like David Tennant, he's also a Scot - if the picture didn't make it, ahem, clear.

Number eight:

It's impossible to not love Hugh Jackman, who is the first member of our Aussie Auxilliary. As silly a movie as it was, Kate and Leopold sealed my affection for him - he just looks so good in breeches.

Number nine:

You never forget your first bout of Anglophilia, and for me, that was Paul McGann. Curiously enough, he was my first flirtation with Doctor Who. He was the only redeemable thing to the movie, but even if the Eighth Doctor only lives on in the audiobooks, Paul was gracious enough to play the role of Lt. Bush in Hornblower.

Number ten:

Technically, Alexis Denisof isn't British, but he lived there, so that counts by me. He was a running joke on Buffy and increasingly sexy and angsty on Angel. Wesley's character arc was so dramatic and tragic, and Alexis made it happen. One day, I will meet him in person. Like the rest of the list!

While I adore at least 8 of these people, I have to comment if only to say - Paul McGann was Lt. Bush?! God, it's been too long since I've seen Hornblower; I'll have to go see it again.

He has my affection entirely from his appearance in The Three Musketeers, disney version. Anything that involves him, Tim Curry, and my obsession, Michael Wincott...yeah, even if it wasn't at ALL like the Three Musketeers, I still love it. ^^

Yup! I let out a mad squee at that - Hornblower has so much pretty it isn't funny. Oddly enough, I think most of these actors have all been in something with at least one other actor. Next, I may do a Men of Sci Fi post similar to this - and then maybe a Men of the Age of Sail post! The possibilities...

What else has Michael Wincott been in?

Lots of things - the most famous being the Crow, Strange Days, Count of Monte Cristo, Robin Hood:Prince of Thieves...

He's terribly pretty, and his voice...*happy sigh* Let's put it this way, my top three in terms of "actors with voices that will blow your mind" would be Alan Rickman, Jeremy Irons, and Michael Wincott.

And I do look forward to the other lists, if you do them. One of my hobbies is casting movies (looking at book characters and trying to find a good actor to match them), so finding new good actors is always welcome. And squeeing about ones I know and love is also fun. ^^

*has only seen RHPoT, sadly*

Pretty and a beautiful voice? Mmmm, it's amazing when you get the two in a deadly combination!

You like casting books? Yay! I mod a community for the Richard Jury mystery series and we've had fun casting the books there.

Haven't read that...I'm assuming I probably should? What's the first book?

And you should see the others. In RHPoT, he's Guy of Gisborne.

*grins* Did you check out the rest of the AFGM pics when you clicked on the pictures? I had a very hard time choosing one Ioan shot out of all of them.

*drool*

so much british love! and hugh jackman, of course, as he's the triple threat of men: he can act, sing, AND dance. AND he's sexy. all these pretties are impeding the higher functioning areas of my brain.

Needless to say, researching these pics almost left me in a puddle of goo! I can't wait to do the Men of Sci Fi - I already have a great pic of Joe Flannigan! And there will be McKay and Ronon and Jack and Daniel and Teal'c and - whew, Stargate will definetly get its very own post!

*loves her British boys and their cousins all over the formerly British globe*

I must propose Ewan MacGregor as a similar triple threat as well.

Ye gods, when he belts out "Your Song" on the Moulin Rouge soundtrack, I get goosebumps.

*le sigh*

ah good point. how could i forget his stunning performance in "moulin rouge"?! he really surprised me with that, just adding onto his *drool*-factor.

hugh jackman has "oklahoma" to his credit, though, and any man who can pull off both curly and wolverine is simply amazing in my book.

Oh! No argument on the Hugh Jackman front, not at all! He's quite yummalicious! I just wanted to add Ewan to that particular list.

Us, caught up in the loveliness of British/Aussie men who can sing, dance and act? Perish the thought! :) But both of them, oh, all of them are equally swoon-worthy and talented.

Lovely, lovely, lovely...A few of them are in the "stable" that [livejournal.com profile] slut_bunwalla are building, and a few of them need to be added...

Lustworthy men, every one...

I have the feeling the stable and the mafia have similar and equally lustfulnoble goals!

Oooh. Nice taste. *_*

I started liking Hugh Jackman because of Kate and Leopold, too... good thing to know I'm not alone!

Thank you! I decided to do all of my lovely British/Aussie crushes, and then I realized they were in the vast majority anyway!

Oh, Hugh Jackman was adorable in that movie! I can't say for sure if that's where my crush started, but it's pretty likely!

Why am I not surprised at the overlap between your list and mine?

Oh, and while I can understand the appeal of Angel, I was/am much more about Giles/Spike... (It doesn't help that Otter assumed I would be and encouraged my fangirlish response when he and I watched the series together.)

*grins* I still remember your Men of Sci Fi web page. It was a think of glory and lustbunnies.

Mmm, Giles and Spike did have sparkage. If he has a thing for Slayers, that could easily be transfered to Watchers.

well this was just the best thing to ever happen. I had never thought of Alan Rickman as Melrose.... but what is Melrose if not the essence of every girl's dreamy boy?

Britness=hotness.

That's what I learned from this post.

Sigh!

*brings out her Rickman!Melrose icon, of which she needs to make more*

I'm shocked you haven't heard my Alan Rickman for Melrose tirade! I think it's in a few of the casting posts on longpidd. But he has the personality and the voice - all he needs is green contacts and leather gloves.

But yes, Brits are hot, and that is the moral of today's very visual lesson. I'm glad everyone else could share the heartfelt sighs!
