artyartieConvention has come and gone again. While Saturday was a wonderfully long day and Friday night didn't fly by, Sunday went by at an ungodly speed - except when we were waiting in line for Michael Shanks. But to recap the happy weekend, let me summarize:
Friday: I get back from running errands at 3:30 to find that my onii-chan, who drove up from New Mexico, has gotten in town faster than I thought. After nearly tackling him with a hug (it's tradition!) we head downtown for dinner and then head back to the Tech Center for the con. We watch the Dr. Who TV movie and realize Paul McGann was the only good thing in it. After watching a very amusing Excel Saga, we head back home for the night.
Saturday: Youko-day! I don my Seijuu summer costume and we're off again! We head to Bruegger's Bagels for breakfast, which is immensly yummy. Tried to eat healthily this weekend and then said 'screw it' today. So I didn't lose this week but oh well! Went back to con and looked at more thing - watched some very funny episodes of Red Dwarf (and scored some highly amusing Red Dwarf freebies) and finally found the model room (they hid it, honestly!). We take a break to visit an anime store and manage to escape with only a few things and then head to an authentic ramen joint, the only one of its chain not in Tokyo. We head back and catch Michael Shanks and laugh ourselves silly for an hour, then head back to the house to get ready for the dance. By this time I realize I haven't been this happy in a *long* time - I catch a glimpse of myself laughing in the mirror and realize just how happy I am around my 'nii-chan. We head to the dance and proceed to have a marvelous time, with only the aid of one alcoholic beverage. Exhausted, we head home about midnight.
Sunday: We have a lie-in and I make whole-wheat crepes for the household. Mmmmmm. We head back to convention where we stand in line so I can thank Michael Shanks for coming and get a picture with him. Walking away from the table, I allow myself a giddy fangirl moment, and my 'nii-chan has to keep me from floating to the ceiling. We catch Sean Astin before we head home to bratwurst and homemade fries for dinner, and a game of Scrabble. We watch some Evangelion - well, I fall asleep on the couch.
Monday: 'Nii-chan goes home and I go back to life as usual - albiet with many more happy memories.
