As again, thoughts on tonight's Stargates under the cut!
I watched the episodes out of order, so Atlantis is first.
SG: Atlantis
Wow. Atlantis went to a *whole* new level with this episode. Ronin is growing on me more and more, and this episode threw me into his fanclub. His sacrafice for the team had me 'awwwwing' quite a bit - and trying to explain the premise of the episode to my teenage brother and his friend. Rodney, as usual, was a delight - and maybe it's just the shipper in me, but I found myself contemplating Rodney/Ronin more seriously this episode. And Rodney/Beckett, yet again. And the obligatory Rodney/John. Stylistically, however - the hunting Wraith were way too Matrix, and I wasn't the only one who thought so. The guns were cool - both Ronin's kick-ass skill with them and Rodney and Carson bickering over them.
Next week's episode? If this is the Replicator ep, I'm looking forward to it very, very much.
SG: 1
And in contrast to the happy place Atlantis sent my inner slasher, SG:1 gave me so many happy platonic love bunnies. Just the little moments - Sam and Vala finally clicking, Vala and Teal'c arm wrestling, the adorable Sam/Cam bit at the end. And for an episode that was sadly bereft of Daniel, I enjoyed it immensly. Can't you just imagine Vala bugging Daniel, upon his return, for a better weapon. She would so argue that if the archaeologist gets a big gun, she should have one, too.
Ba'al has always been one of my favorite villains. He just has a certain cool style - as do all his clones. I was shocked no one made a reference to the multiple SG:1 incident last season. The ending fit perfectly in place this season - another dead end for the team in their fight against the Ori. It would be nice to see the Ori again soon, thought.
Next week's episode? Trailer went by waaaaaaaaaaay too fast. Is Daniel in this one?
