Weekend Report

Sunday mornings I have a rather odd tradition. I walk down to Panera, a little bakery/cafe, order a bagel and coffee and write. I wrote most of my 20,000 words for NaNo there, wrote a draft of my Yuletide story over a Choconut bagel and hazelnut coffee, and have written nearly all of a Hornblower WIP there. I'm not sure what it is about the carbs and caffeine that gets my muse going, but I'm certainly not going to stop. As the Hornblower story is an OT3, I call these outings my 'Smut and a Bagel' mornings. I am certain I will be smote down in the near future for this.
Just watched the second episode of MI-5/Spooks and it was simply incredible, in a shocking, horrific sort of way at the end. Matthew Macfadyen is simply a phenomenal actor - the entire cast is. The characters are so rich and so human, with all their issues and flaws. If you haven't watched it find the first season at your library. It makes me want to start reading LeCarre.
Speaking of WIPs, I'm hearing rumors of a WIP Amnesty, so I may post bits of three WIPs currently in my carry-all. And as if I don't have enough, I really want to cross MI-5 into a Richard Jury story. It just has to be done.
[Edit]: Did anyone else catch the Puppy Bowl on Animal planet, with the Kitty Halftime Show? The kittens were adorable, though they seemed a little freaked out by the confetti at the end. Next year I just need to have a Puppy Bowl party!

Date: 2006-02-07 11:46 am (UTC)You have to do this. Absolutely. *bossy*
Also, I hit that Scandinavian bakery this weekend. Marvelous! I'll have to stop there every time I come into Denver now. It's already an addiction.

Date: 2006-02-07 06:28 pm (UTC)I have to do that crossover now, don't I? More importantly, I need to finish this chapter and the rest of this first story! MI-5 has somewhat taken over my nights now, but I only have two more episodes left. It's just such an addicting series, and having more Matthew Macfadyen yumminess is an even better perk. Speaking of, do you know the new P&P is coming out on DVD the 28th, the same day as The Old Wine Shades? It's like a second Christmas, I tell you!

Date: 2006-02-08 07:01 am (UTC)I ordered The Old Wine Shades from the small bookstore in Monument. Sadly, that ate up most of my Buy Me Stuff money for the month. P&P will have to wait a bit. :( Alas.

Date: 2006-02-08 07:43 am (UTC)I haven't explored Denver nearly as much as I would like, but I have found a few gems. There's a new place up in the Platte Valley that does an afternoon tea(!) - and as much as I loved doing tea at the Brown Palace, at $25 a pop, it's not something you can do often. If you're ever up in Denver and would like to get together, let me know!
