"I heard that!" Nakuru paused from busily divesting herself of hat, scarf, her rain jacket and rather fashionable dark red Wellingtons. Spinel Sun, the one who had made the disparaging cough, glanced up at the maroon and yellow scarf in her hand.
"Just because those silly quizzes you insist on cluttering your Livejournal with insist you're a Gryffindor doesn't mean they're right." He fluttered down from the stair railing and hovered just a few feet away from his sister. "Though maybe they're getting less particular about who they let in these days - after all, there was Peter Pettigrew-"
Nakuru flicked her scarf at him but he darted just out of his reach. "I will have you know I am very brave and courageous." She slipped out of her Wellingtons and into a pair of warm, cozy house shoes. Crossing her arms across her chest, she shot a pointed look at Spinel. "Need I remind you of just who in this room not only saved you, but the rest of the guardians and, well, the entire world?"
Spinel let out a little sigh, which pushed him down a few inches in the air. "All right, all right, but I think they're looking for an overall pattern of bravery an- mrph!" Nakuru had taken advantage of Spinel's preoccupation to magically pull him within grabbing distance. She laughed and held him up to her face, nuzzling his cold nose. "You're just jealous cause you're a boring old Ravenclaw with his nose stuck in a book."
"No, I'm proud of being a boring old Ravenclaw with his nose in a book," Spinel said, wriggling free from her grasp. "We don't get killed off every other book and we do make for interesting Quidditch announcers."
"Okay, that bit with Luna was hilarious," Nakuru conceded, She started to say something else but instead smiled brightly and waved to Kaho, who was coming down the stairs with little Percival in her arms.
"Nakuru! We didn't think you'd be getting in for a few more hours!" She reached out and gave Nakuru an enthusiastic if awkward hug with her son in one arm. "Percy and I were just going to the greengrocers but it won't take us long."
"Suppi and I will be fine till you get back," Nakuru said, reaching out and tickling Percy under his chin. "Oh! Maybe you can settle something for us. What Hogwarts house do you think I'd be in?"
"Gryffindor, definitely," Kaho said, at which Nakuru promptly beamed and looked smugly at Spinel. Kaho laughed as she readjusted Percy, who was now trying to reach out and grab Spinel and was nearly falling out of her arms in the process. "You know, I took one of those online sorting quizzes and I got the oddest result. This one did combinations of houses."
"What was that?" Spinel looked genuinely intrigued now. "Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff, I'd guess."
"Well, you got the Hufflepuff right," Kaho said with an amused glint in her eyes. "It said my other house was Slytherin."
Nakuru and Spinel laughed, and waved at the two as they headed out the front door. Once the heavy door slammed shut, the two guardians turned and looked at each other, wide eyed.
"Hufflepuff and Slytherin. That's, well, a little scary," Nakuru said as the sound of another person heading down the stairs echoed through the large, marble-floored front room.
"What's a little scary?" Eriol said, smiling at his newly arrived moon guardian.
Spinel raised a brow as he fluttered past his master up the stairs. "What Kaho will do to you if you ever make her mad."

Date: 2005-11-07 02:10 pm (UTC)*squeals* And hey, what's wrong with boring old Ravenclaws with their noses stuck in books? My books are infinitely superior to Quidditch. (Can you tell who chose the crossover icon over the Ravenclaw icon?)
Clow Reed, of course, is somewhere on a long and...well, not always august, but absolutely always interesting...line of Slytherin half-bloods. Could you doubt it?
Kaho is so Hufflepuff-Slytherin. (Hufflerin? Slytherpuff?)
