[livejournal.com profile] butterflydrming posted Five Questions in her journal, and asked if anyone wanted Five Questions in return, to be answered honestly, not with cliches or platitudes. And so here are my questions and answers; if you'd like your own questions, with the same stipulations, just leave a comment.

The questions:

1.Cake or Pie? Explain.
2.Which animal at the Denver Zoo interests you the most?
3.Name one thing that makes everything else in life worthwhile.
4.What would you do on a stormy night?
5.Describe your favorite article of clothing.

The answers:

1. Cake, in particular, homemade chocolate cake. For the past two years, I've had an absolutely exquisite homemade chocolate cake with homemade whipped cream topping and assorted berry filling. There's just something about cake that makes everything better - my friend Mel and I would spontaneously make yellow cake with chocolate frosting. In college, I took it upon myself to make birthday cakes for friends, just because. And for less sentimental reasons, if you screw up a cake, you get brownies.

2. For reasons unknown to me, the river otter. If we go to the zoo and the river otter isn't out I feel somewhat disappointed. They just seem so carefree and playful, dashing about in the water with such grace and speed. Add in what has to be one the most adorable faces in the animal kingdom and I'd gladly pay the admission price just to see these guys.

3. After thinking about this question, a great, great deal, I honestly don't think I have an answer. It's with a great deal of honesty and sadness that I admit this, but there isn't one constant thing in life which makes everything else worthwhile, because the 'everything else' can just be so pervasive and overwhelming. If anything, there are fleeting series of things that make life worthwhile - a beautiful piece of music, a friend's smile, a summer sky full of stars. Islands of wonder and joy in a sea of lissitude and meaninglessness.

4. Turn off the lights, light a few candles, grab my favorite book and settle in for a good, quiet night, punctuated with the incredibly loud thunder we get from the lightning bolts that crackle seemingly overhead and the torrential rains falling outside. Afterwards, fall asleep with the curtains open and sleep under the flashes of light from outside.

5. There's a dress I own I've only worn twice, both times to convention. It's of a shimmery, satin-soft blue fabric with sparkly straps and an elegant little twisted knot in the back. And even though I'm not happy with the dress' size, the moment I slip it on and feel the fabric just cascade down, I feel like a goddess. I feel like a beautiful, elegant thing, which is something I don't feel like too often.

I'm game.

And I'm sure my otter would love hearing your answer to 2. I also love your answers to 4 & 5. We all need clothes that make us feel like that, even if they don't get worn all that often.

1. What is the first book you remember reading on your own?
2. When you look up at a sky full of stars, what goes through your mind?
3. What is your oddest addiction/obsession?
4. Has a piece of music ever brought you to tears? If so, which piece - pick the most memorable if there's more than one.
5. Tea or coffee?
