So very, very shameless...
Jan. 17th, 2005 03:23 pmThus far, today has been a good, if interesting day.
I managed to get some decent sleep last night; recent stress has been making my sleep none-too-restful by giving my incredibly intense, worry-full dreams. So starting out the day halfway rested was a help.
Work today was rather quiet, giving me a chance to do some catch up and listen to my free trial of Real Rhapsody, which mostly consists of Fionna Apple, the 'Lemony Snickett' soundtrack, some Yo-Yo Ma and even a little Yanni. *ahem* C'mon, who doesn't admit to secretly owning a copy of 'Live at the Acropolis' even if they otherwise can't stand him?
In the process of helping a visitor from one of our offices in Belgium, which consisted of helping him get his Internet connection up and walking with him to the nearest coffee shop, which I was going to anyway, I got an invite for dinner with Thierry tomorrow. Good customer service? Indeed!
And in the afternoon I was a shameless accent wh-, er, monger, and purposely called a printer tech in Rochester, MN versus sending an e-mail. I did this all the time with Canadian publishers when I worked at the Tattered Cover, and I probably would have called up our British distributors if it wouldn't have been a long distance call.
Anyways, that's today's news - additionally, in an attempt to remove some stressors and make my financial situation a bit better, I'm looking for a little part-time job as a barista at one of the nearby coffeeshops. I did barista-ing in college and really liked it - engaging with your regular customers and such, and we have some really great staff at out local coffee joints, so for a few extra hours a week for a couple months, it wouldn't actually be too bad.
