If I *need* a lefse roller...
Oct. 15th, 2004 11:34 pm..it should be to smack myself in the head. Oyyyyyy. Now I am on a quest to get either a krumkake iron and/or a lefse roller (and stick!) before the holidays - this on top of the absolute need to make tamales before the holidays. And viscochos(sp). And those little wedding cookies.
The tamales and Mexican cookies are from my heritage - going a Christmas without a tamale is a painful ordeal. The krumkake iron and lefse roller are because I'm infatuated with Scandanavian baking (I make a yummy limpa, if I say so myself!) and I'll be spending Christmas with a friend of Scandanavian heritage and, yeah, well, back to the post about being obsessed with their brand of baking and love of making food for people. It's me and ethnic food in general, really - I would still *love* to have an honest-to-goodness shabu-shabu pot. I saw one at Sur La Table and just about had a fit. And that's not to mention a proper Japanese or English tea pot.
Even if I never marry, I will just register at Sur or Williams Sonoma for a birthday and get all this cooking stuff I've been lusting after.
Though with my usual wry humor I'm beginning to think with the ability to make lefse, follow a hockey game, enjoy Prairie Home Companion, appreciate a wry sense of humor and quaff a Guiness with remarkable speed (when in the form of a Car Bomb), there's bound to be someone in the Twin Cities for me.
