So Much Squee

Today, I got many good things. My iPod! A frying pan! The warm, fluffy feeling that comes from helping out and giving blood. A new friend over to have dinner and squee with you during Stargate.
Life is good. :)
Okay, when did SG:1 get made over by the Fab Five? Seriously, everyone in this episode looked so damn good, especially Michael Shanks, with those cute rectangular frames, slightly spiky hairdo and the coture. Especially compared to big-glasses, moppy-haired Daniel who has been frequenting the six-o-clock repeats.
But beyond looking good, this episode was *very* good for a stand alone. If the Ori weren't bad enough, now you have the Trust mucking about again, though I really thought the treasure in Vala's head would have something to do with helping the battle. But the everything in the episode (the date/not date! Daniel staying up very late to help find her, the speech at the end, the team ribbing, Sam ribbing on Cam and his pants!) made it a wonderful, wonderful team fic, and at last Vala is technically part of that team. Like Teal'c said, let's party!
I think I am still smiling about this episode. It was *so* damn good, and that isn't just because it was a McKay episode. The writing was a brilliant combination between humor and genuine sentiment - and watching it with a fellow slasher was just *perfect*!
First, the humor. McKay with his sister (David Hewlitt's RL sister, which makes it that much cooler) is even better than McKay and Sam, and that's saying something. Actually, putting all three of them together is just comic gold (Meredith! Destroying the Universe! Sam's secret affinity for Canadian accents!). And the team breakfast and *Ronon* and the underwear comment? Oh, I was laughing and trying to catch my breath at that.
Then, the sentiment. I had a suspicion this episode could have been very mawkish, but it wasn't, and kudos to the writer for filling it with genuine emotion, especially the last scene between McKay and his sister, whom I heard is coming back in a future episode. :)
Oh, and then the slash.
ainsley and I were in squeeish giggles at the golfing scene - Rod! and "his Sheppard" are so in love it's not funny. And you know he was only offering to help him with his stroke to cop a feel. We loved Sheppard's Jonny Cash poster, but were puzzled over his twin bed. Does anyone remember in Duet if Rodney has a bigger bed?
So all in all, a very good night. :) Now if only I can have a very good weekend - do some work and yet have a good time doing it!
Life is good. :)
