Another Friday - these past few months have flown by so quickly it's a bit frightening - and this week was no exception. The 'highlight' of this week had to be getting rid of my neurologist after he told me that the tingliness and pain was all in my head. Yeah, nice. So it's off to see a new neuro a week from Monday and hoping this flare-up doesn't last too long!

I'm both happy and not happy with my story for last week's [livejournal.com profile] tsukimineshrine challenge. All my works tend to take place in the context of a single timeline with some rather large story arcs. But I can't write it sequentially, and so I get little bits and pieces. Tomoyo has a *huge* development in the middle of the work, which I wanted to mention in the story, or at least hint at at the very end, and I changed my mind, which I think made the story weaker, especially the end. Meh. Once I finally get to the backstory, I know I'll revise it. What I really need to do is make a general timeline so I don't start contradicting myself, especially since I keep adding things - though I like the idea of Tomoyo and Naoko being at Oxford for a semester in college.

Tonight I'm off to Pints Pub, the possible venue for my Trafalgar day party. I'm just hoping they'd be amenable to the idea - they're likely the most British pub in Denver (there's even a little red phone booth outside!) so I think there's a chance, at least.

Anyway, hope everyone else had a good/decent/bearable week, and has a better weekend!

good week... sooooooo tired... need nap... this weekend, though, starts the next few weeks of studying hell.

did i ever tell you i want to be a neurologist? if i ever become one i promise i won't make such crap diagnosis as the one you're complaining about.

best of luck with the pub venture. it sounds like a whole lot of british goodness.

College tests are something that first semester - so much more intense than high school! Coffee and something fun (I liked coloring books) are vital!

That's great! We need more helpful neurologists - it sounds like there are a lot out there like my last one. Grrr.

The pub does sound like fun - and the food looks good, too! Will let people know how it goes. :)

The 'highlight' of this week had to be getting rid of my neurologist after he told me that the tingliness and pain was all in my head.

I can see myself making a snide remark about how, yes, my brain is located in my head, and therefore all pain/tingliness/etc is, in a sense, there as well. (And, perhaps only when i tell the story to others, hinting that I wonder where said doctor might find his.)

While some people do imagine symptoms, doctors are not infallible, and therefore, it's annoying as hell for one to say what amounts to "I didn't find anything and therefore there can't be anything wrong with you because I'm so great".

While I certainly hope it's nothing too serious, I hope even more that you find someone who can narrow down your problem to something that includes more than just "you must be imagining it".

did you read the article in the october national geographic about the battle of trafalgar? there are photos on-line at ngm.com/0510 though i haven't seen them yet. i was distracted by the elephant dung paper (true!) and elephant orchestra (same ngm site), which is really incredible. you should listen to that, too.

my friend's father is a retired neurologist, and his favorite bad joke when my friend had a headache was to tell her he could step on her foot (or some such act of minimal violence to induce pain) so she would forget about the pain in her head. but he's honestly a very caring and sincere person, so i know there are good neurologists out there. i hope the next one you meet is like him.

I'm definetly hoping for the 'not serious' too! So far, I think I'm handling it pretty well - humor, grace, and occasional yelping when it feels like someone's doused one entire side of my body in ice water.

The look on my face when he came back not with a prescription for something for, well, *pain*, but anti-anxiety meds must have been a mixture of shock and anger - I almost wish I had walked out right then! I know how I feel when I get stressed and anxious - and somehow, I don't remember any of this.

Ah well - at least tonight was really fun - when you come out to Denver, we must go to Pints! The beer is good and the bartenders very friendly! One of them recognized me from years ago at the Tattered and gave me a free beer! He got a very good tip, to say the least.

I did! My friend Eric at work actually brought his copy over to me, since he knows I'm an Age of Sail fan. The pictures were just incredible, and I'm going to pick one up soon! Tonight was a success and if I can get the people for the Trafalgar party, we have a venue! The bartender thought it was a great idea.

Hopefully the new neuro will be like your friend's father - I have a vague feeling I may have seen him before and liked him, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

We hope/plan to visit my parents for Xmas, and have to get together then! Otter suggested we bring our HH DVDs for a Horatio party while we're in town.

And I love being recognized (in a good way) by servers at restaurants etc. Occasionally it gets you free food or beverages, and even when it doesn't, it at least is nice to feel specifically welcome. (We have a couple restaurants locally where we get asked where Cat Head and Yeti are, or they get asked where we are, and the four of us have received free tiramisu from the owner of the local Moroccan place before.)
