this is just to say

Maybe downloading the trial of photoshop was, perhaps, a bad idea?  Especially figuring I have to be up in, oh, six hours?

*headdesk*

But I did make a pretty Ewan icon, and some Mr.Collins!Cicero icons after much squeeful viewing of Rome tonight.   Other girls squee for Marc Antony and the two soldiers - I squee for the valiant senator defending the Republic - oh yes, and Blakeney!Octavian - but he's all big now and his voice has changed!  I miss my squeaker!  If anyone's curious, the text in the image is from Laelius, On Friendship, which is one of Cicero's most beautiful works ever written.

But soon, very soon, I will make more icons that other people like that - especially since I could be doing, oh, much more practical things.

Oh, and in case anyone's noticed, I am f-locking more stuff - I doubt a potential employer would ever look for this, and you can't find it by knowing my real name, but there's some posts about, oh, my thesis (and the icons to match) that it might be best to keep hidden.  So what's locked is mostly school entries - nothing exciting or dramatic!

You watch Rome! Oh we must talk some time. I marathoned the entire first season in one sitting last semester, during a school day, skipping class the entire day. I've only seen episode 1 of season, as UC Berkeley cable doesn't get HBO.

Octavian is pretty badass, I enjoy his character simply for the fact that his badassery is so out of sync with his boyband looks. The two soldiers... I have a feeling they're going to meet up on the battlefield fighting against each other once Anthony has his eventual showdown against Octavian.

Eeep! I didn't respond, you're right - I have not been good thus far in responding!

So how do you like new Octavian? It's odd, knowing he's Mr. Bingley from the new P&P, but I'm not sure about him yet. I think I still like the old Octavian! I do think that Cicero's bits in the new season were rather good, and his last episode? My God, David Bamber did such an amazing job with that scene. But it'll be curious to see how the rest of the season plays out, now that the characters that I loved (Cicero and Brutus) were gone.

I have eaten the plums that were in the icebox

Hmm, yeah, one of my friends who is in grad school witnessed some drama when one jerky guy found another girl's LJ with very old but snarky posts about their department - and he copied them and emailed them to everyone in the department! Right before they were going to get their teaching assignments and stipends for the new semester, I think! Poor girl. I would have died.

Yay, Photoshop! It's highly addictive. And already you are churning out beautiful icons.

I should probably f-lock most of my job-related entries. Good plan.
