It completely escaped my notice, but today is the first day of fall, for all of us here in the Northern Hemisphere. Happy Autumn, almost everybody!

And Happy Spring to at least one person out there. :)

are you sure it's fall today? because my calendar is saying the equinox is tomorrow (friday)... as is my father (according to him, the equinox will be happening at about 11 pm central time).

I googled the Fall Equinox 2006, and some of the sites said it's actually on Saturday, the 23rd! Today is Mabon, I think (Pagan celebration of the equinox), and when someone on my flist posted about it, I just jumped to "first day of fall!" But other sites say the 22nd, like your dad, and if NASA agrees with your dad, then they're probably right!

ah, i see. that makes sense, and as i don't know any practicing pagans it's quite obvious how i would miss that today is their holiday, not tomorrow ^^;;

for my purposes, i'm going to stick with friday at 11 pm. though really, it's feeling a bit more like early winter here (despite the fact that the trees still have leaves). it's almost as if nature is saying (quite vehemently), "autumn be damned! bring on the winter!!!".

I used to fervently believe that Winter was my favourite season.... me being a Canadian and loving the snow and all.... but Autumn has always been such a close second ( love the leaves, the crisp air, the smell, the colour of the lake the boats bob on down at the harbour ) that I am sure fall is overtaking me.

This morning I woke up and just FELT it !!

Hope fall out in North Carolina is as fun as it is up here !!
