Yep, I'm an SG:1 fan, though I've missed the last couple episodes (though I loved the first ones with Vala! Her and Daniel are great!). I actually met Michael Shanks at convention in 2004 - he is funny and extremely cute! I got a picture with him and I was just on cloud nine. Last year the guy who plays Bra'Tac came, and I passed him by in the hall. Teal'c is great, though - I love his utterly random comments! My mood theme is probably going to change, though, in a few weeks as I go totally Age-of-Sail for the Trafalgar Bicentennial.

It's amazing how many things people find out they have in common once they start talking!

i agree. i thought daniel and vala were extremely funny. i haven't seen the latest eps (including the finale) because i can't find anyone who will agree to watch the sci-fi channel in the lounge (nobody watches what i watch!). but my mom t-vo'ed it for me, so when i go home i'll see them then.

and to think i wasn't really a fan until this summer... my friend miranda sucked me and my mom in, and now we went so far as to buy the first season on dvd. i love it! another one of my friends is also trying to start up a stargate doujinshi (she's an amazing artist) which she wants me to write... that should prove interesting.

when is the trafalgar bicentennial exactly? and what does age-of-sail mode entail? should the world be worried?

Oh, meeting Michael Shanks was just great - and I managed to keep from gushing too much! I told him how I enjoyed watching him in SG:1, made a few hockey jokes then asked for a picture, which he gladly obliged. He does the 'arm over the shoulder' photo, which is so wibble-worthy! I thanked him and kinda floated away, my friend teasing me to come down from the ceiling. So yes, if he goes to a convention near you, see him. You won't regret it!

There have to be fellow sci-fi geeks at your school! When I was in collge, I had X-Files and Voyager watching buddies - now those were the days. :)

Hee! You'll hear all about the Trafalgar Bicentennial in the next month from me. Just google 'Battle of Trafalgar' and you can read all about it. Basically, it's the most important battle in all naval history, ever.

i'm not so in the dark about history that i don't know about the battle of trafalgar... i'm just not a fanatic ^_^

i'm sure there are other sci-fi geeks here (it is macalester), i just haven't met them yet. none in my chem class (who i should mention i live with)... and i don't think there are any on my floor... but there is a strong contingent of mr. darcy lovers, which i was happy to run across.

i fully respect col. brandon. i definitely like him better than bingley, that's for sure. i decided while watching the a&e version for the hundreth time last saturday that he needs much more screen/book time. austen hardly does him justice!

just a question, but have you ever read the thursday next books? i have a feeling you might enjoy them, though i could be wrong... i certainly liked them.

I haven't read the Thursday Next books, but I've been wanting to read them for a while. Lately, I've been devouring books - and those have certainly been teasing my palate when I see them in the bookstore! Besides, when you find a good series, you're just thrilled.

I read the comment in your journal about swords - you should really read The Fencing Master. The ending had my heart beating faster, and it's just so well written. And if you can take a fencing class, do it! I took a beginning foil course and it was incredible - a real mental and physical workout!
