New Pellew Story
This is from A Social History of the Navy by Michael Lewis, and is for all you fellow Pellew fans. I swear, he just has the best stories ever. :)
Jeremiah Coghlan was a Merchant Service boy who showed extraordinary courage, rescuing fifty men from an East Indiaman. Hearing about the boy's story, Sir Edward Pellew offered him a berth in the Indefatiguable as a Midshipman. Coghlan thrived under Pellew's care, making Lieutenant and eventually Post Captain before his death.

God, so in love with him!
these stories are wonderful.
Any chance of him tying into your thesis... or is he a little too straight-laced for the subject matter?
Tell us the secret life of Sir Edward....
