I once heard that "Star Trek" was intended by Gene Rodenberry to be Hornblower in space, but I never verified this.

And I do approve of your suggestion that Colin, Alan and Ioan should all do a period movie together. But not even my excessively campy anglophilia could bring me to eat Cadbury chocolate while watching it. ;)
